What's Going On

January 4 2008 - Things are really heating up.  All volunteers should read these ROC Meeting Minutes.

Decenber  15  -  Crew Chief and Section Chief meeting.  Click here for the minutes.

October 10  -  A first group of Crew Chiefs were given the keys to the volunteer registrations and will now start to contact volunteers and to build their crews.   The  login point for Crew Chiefs is here.

Sept 18 2007

The first meeting of the combined ROC was held today.   Among the highlights were a report that the "FIS Pros"  (Helmet, Gunther, et al) had walked the courses and were pleased with progress.  The Alpina A-net towers are almost complete, with some fill-in required on the Dave Murray.  The towers and nets are locally fabricated to Alpina specifications.

There will be a walkdown of the new ladies downhill on Franz's on or about Sept 29 for Crew Chiefs, and others. Stay tuned for details.

The Registration Web site for Volunteers is up and running and open for business.  Crew Chiefs are invited to try it out.  Crew Chiefs will shortly be asked to help "spread the word" and to ensure that ther crew members have registered.   This site will become "THE" event site for volunteers, with information about accommodation, etc.

The general public Event Web site, World Cup - Whistler  is up and running, but still lacks much content.  This will come shortly.

Bob Miller and Pat O'Connell (Patman) have been named Volunteer Coordinators and will be working on our list of Crew and Section Chiefs.  We need more Crew Chiefs.  Please use the Application process, which remains open.  Note.  All Crew and Section Chiefs need to register too.

The Volunteer organization is now heavily engaged in helping the race preparations move forward.

Sept 13, 2007

The ROC has closed the call for applications for Race Officials  ("Chiefs of ....").   There were many higly qualified applicants which has created a very successful. but difficult selection process.  The ROC and/or ACA will be contacting both successful and unsuccessful candidates.  The ROC wishes to heartily thank all candidates for their participation.

Stay tuned for the public announcement of successful candidates.

The call for applications for Crew Chiefs and Section Chiefs remains open

Sept 10, 2007

1.  Construction continues on the new women's downhill course, as well on the tunnel rebuild where the Expressway crosses the men's downhill course at the bottom of the Weasel.

2.  On the women's track, clearing and grading has been completed to widen the track at certain turning points and an overpass has been created to permit the track to pass over the Highway 86 ski run.  This effectively creates a tunnel for the public that is reported to be two snowcats wide.

Snowmaking is also being extended up the new women's downhill track.

3.  There have been a number of walk-downs to permit the Chiefs of Course and Chiefs of Race, FIS Officials and others to inspect the new women's downhill  We hope to have some dry-land photos of the new track shortly.  Keep your eye on our Training section.

4.  The ROC Selection Committee is expected to meet shortly to select and name the 2nd-tier race officials, including Chief of Gates, Start and Finish Referees, Chief of Finish Area, Starters, Controllers, etc.  The application process for Crew Chiefs and Section Chiefs is expected to remain open.

5.  We expect that the new Registration Web site will be launched very shortly.  Watch our Home page for an announcement.
